Xmas Holiday Photos -1

Just arrived in Jo'burg.
The "road" heading to The Cavern. In fantastic conditioned compared to the Sani Pass roads we would drive later.
View of a Dam from the car.
The play tractor at The Cavern. The kids loved it.
Look at those happy faces.
The view from the balcony. It was so relaxing to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy this view.
The magnificent playground at The Cavern. I would love to build one of these for the kids.
One of the nearby waterfalls.
Phil and the kids enjoying the waterfall.
One of the Baboons that would come in to say "hello".
Nearby village. The women are carrying plastic 44 gallon drums on their heads.
The walk to the Cascade's in Royal Natal National Park.

A view of the Drakensburg Mountains from the helicopter.
On top of the world!

Xmas Eve. Laura and her dreaded da da watching a movie.
Xmas Day 2012.
The cakes that The Cavern had made up. Some good ideas for the future.
Tom took this photo. He has really enjoyed taking photos.
Laura took this photo. Better than her others as she finally found the view finder!
Above: Santa arriving by Bakkie.

The kids getting their presents.
Tom flying his kite.
Proteas every where. I guess that is why it is the national flower.
Laura in her costume as an Angel in her first play. I am sure it will not be the last.
Inside Fern Forrest.
Spionkop Dam and Reserve.
Love the stripes.
Red Hartebeest.
Black Wildebeest.
Dinosaur bones!!
Laura loved the pony and did not stop smiling the entire ride.
Tom on the other hand got right off after this photo was taken.
Talk about muddy water!
"Catch me Dadda".
This is not illegal in South Africa, and is actually quite common. Even at 120 km/ph.
The start of Sani Pass.
The SA Border. Now entering no mans land
The Sani Pass road.
Wet but not really cold.
Sani Pass. We drove up here.
Phil and the kids watching the fog roll in. Me and the kids below.
The cloud coming.
Nearly gone.
Beautiful.
Peaceful. All you could hear were the bells on the cows.
A toilet with a view.

A Lesotho village.
A herds man.
The Sani Pass road getting worse.
Lesotho.
Lesotho border. Heading back into SA.
Beautifully painted houses on the way to Franshoek.
Hiking up to the cave.
Relaxing in the pool under the waterfall.
Exploring further up the falls.
The kids loved climbing, especially Tom.
Laura doing her ballet moves on the natural rock platform. A born performer.
Looking back over where walked to get to the cave.
The kids did a great job walking.
The cave in the background.
Fanshoek.
Weltevrede Lion Farm. The white lion I patted.
One of the lion cubs. Look at that face!
Doesn't that face say it all.
Very lucky kids.
Tom and the cheetah.
Kids a bit hessitant at this point.
Laura and Phil getting up close and personal.
Open wide.
Tom feeling how hard a tusk is.
Above: I love it when they flap their ears. It helps to cool them down.

Cue the Elephant Walk music.
Look at me Dadda!
Tom feeding Themba.
Now that is one big foot. The elephant has a circular front foot and an oval shaped back foot.
The boys, Themba and Vuso playing / fighting.
Having a rest. Love the pose.

Amarula the big bull. Which ever tusk is smaller means that that is the side they favour and so you can tell right or left handed as such.
